About the Project
Osiris for Art Productions & Training, together with Awtar Quartet initiated “The Osiris String Orchestra Project” in 2016 with the purpose to establish an academic music platform to incubate a number of music amateurs in the city, and to give them a chance to express and improve their talents within a decent string orchestra. The initiative came because we believe that music and society have always been intimately related. Music reflects and creates social conditions – including the factors that either facilitate or impede social change. Music has the power to bring people together and provide them with identity and opportunity of self-expression. Music is also so powerful at the level of the social group because it facilitates communication which goes beyond words, enables meanings to be shared, and promotes the development and maintenance of individual, group, cultural and national identities.
Osiris String Orchestra is an attempt to express and market the role of music in society and culture, and to express its ability to shaping the city and making it more vibrant and peaceful.
