"Ahad Sokkan El Madina", directed by Adham El Sherief, will be screened in the context of the Hal Badeel Festival.
The Festival Launches its first edition on the 24th March at 7pm, with 13 programs lead by active youth and artists within the cultural sector. The Festival is an initiative responding to the current need for independent art spaces, due to the recent closure of a number of independent performance spaces and the incresed pressure on those still functioning. The program includes Films by young film makers, Music, Puppets and dance all free with Tv screens screening all the performances.
The number of venues is very scarce for a city of 20 million inhabitants like Cairo, with poor audience development and heavy reliance on funding, Hal Badeel (alternative solution) Festival works on converting spaces to accommodate the performing arts. The organisers have volunteered their energies, equipment and contacts to create a truly independent event. There is no exchange of money within the festival, on any front.
Hal Badeel (alternative solution) Festival is the intitative of Saber ElSayed and Mido Sadek.
