Teatro ElMaadi is screening the award-winning thrilling documentary "Citizenfour" on Tuesday, June 9th at 7:00 pm. 

Laura Poitras—a producer and cinematographer was making a film about surveillance in the post 9/11 era when she started receiving encrypted e-mails from someone identifying himself as "Citizen Four", an anonymous who was ready to blow the whistle on the massive hidden surveillance programs run by the National Security Agency (NSA) and other intelligence agencies.

In June 2013, Poitras flew to Hong Kong for the first of many meetings with Citizenfour and brought her camera with her. 

The film that resulted from this series of tense encounters is one of a kind in the history of cinema: A Real-Life Thriller unfolding minute by minute before our eyes… 

Citizenfour was produced in 2014 and is directed by Laura Poitras. The documentary won several awards as Best Documentary Feature, including the Academy award (2015), BAFTA award (2015) and the Alliance of Women Film Journalists award (2014).
