Sewing Course Level 1 For Beginners

Course Description
In this course you will learn the basics of sewing. You will be introduced to the sewing process, sewing machine use and maintenance.

For Adults – Beginners

Course Content:
1st class. Introduction to sewing process. Working tools.
2nd class. Practicing main hand stitches in sewing.
3rd class. Sewing machine description and working options. Accessories. Maintenance. Practicing straight stitch-line and reverse sewing.
4th class. Attaching 2 types of zippers. Making buttonhole.
5th class. Working on a small sewing project by choice.
6th class. Continuation of work on sewing machine. Finishing the project. Useful tips in sewing work.
Required materials:
1. Sewing machine.
2. Sewing machine accessories (usually attached).
3. Sewing machine oil.
4. Tracing paper.
5. Tracing wheel.
6. Copy paper (carbon paper).
7. Seam ripper.
8. Sharp fabric scissors and lightweight scissors (to cut paper).
9. Snips (micro-tip scissors).
10. Hand sewing needles.
11. Sewing pins.
12. Marking pens/pencils/chalk.
13. Drawing pencil (HB-2B) to draw on the paper.
14. Thread bobbins.
15. Measuring tape.
16. Plastic ruler of 60 cm, short ruler of 20-30 cm.
17. Fabric (the length of fabric will be determined during classes).

If you don’t have all above-mentioned tools, not aware of some positions or need purchase advice, we discuss all details during the introduction class. You will be gladly advised as on regular tools, so on sewing machine types and accessories for it.

Iryna is from Ukraine, she has finished her studies in Economics in Ukraine where she has also studied and taught English language.
From 2006 till present she has been working and teaching Sewing and Fashion Designing at Art Café as well as managing her own private Atelier in Egypt.
