We will be pleased with your attendance and participation in the screening and discussion of The Thread and The Wall film, on Friday June 12th, 7 pm at DECA. The film director Mohamed Khaled will be present during the event, and after the discussion we will enjoy the music of Luka (one of the participating musicians in the film), as well as the Tabla tunes of Donia, a young and wonderful Tabla player. English subtitles will be available.

The Thread And The Wall, is an attempt to understand the status of women in contemporary Egyptian society by shedding a light on the issues and problems that women face on a daily basis.

Also, the film is a documentation of the “Women On Walls” project, and because art is the reflection of society, the project sought to empower women by giving them a platform to express and display the associating conflicts through Graffiti. The film closely followed this initiative with its aspirations, its complications and its prevalent outcome.

In addition, the film clearly shows the dichotomous overlap between the artistic process itself and the personal lives of the participants within
it, along with others, in an attempt to arrive at a wider fully-formulated perception on the complex and often intricate role of women in society."

Directed by: Mohammed Khaled
