As a reflection on the book ‘Postdramatic Theatre’ by Prof. Lehmann, this lecture sketches the developments since the publication of the book, outlines some of the key notions of postdramatic theatre, and presents examples of contemporary postdramatic theatre practice from different theatre landscapes in European and other theatre cultures.

HANS -THIES LEHMANN
Hans -Thies Lehmann is a professor of Drama at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. Until 2010 he was a professor of Theatre Studies at the Goethe University Frankfurt. Prof. Lehmann is a member of the Academy of Performing Arts and ex-president of the International Brecht Society. Publications include: Theatre and Myth (1991); Post Dramatic Theatre (1999); The Political Writing (2002); Heiner Müller manual (2003); Theatre of Japan (2009); Popular Culture in Contemporary Theatre (2012); Tragedy and Dramatic Theater (2013).
