Do you want to to work towards becoming a professional contemporay dancer, choreographer or teacher?
Do you think you have what it takes to join a full-time Contemporary Dance program?
Now is your last chance to join the 3-year full-time program at the Cairo Contemporary Dance Center!
The Cairo Contemporary Dance Center (CCDC) is an independent space for Contemporary Dance in Egypt, hosting the first full-time Contemporary Dance school in Africa and the Arab world. Founded in 2012 by Egyptian choreographer, dancer and teacher Karima Mansour, CCDC is recognized by the UNESCO International Dance Council, which delivers the certificates.
The 3-year full-time program aims to train professional contemporary choreographers, dancers, dance teachers and dance researchers, whilst recognizing the difference between each path and its requirements, as well as building a professional community for the budding art-form in Egypt and the Arab world.
The program provides a holistic approach of Contemporary Dance, to raise bodies and minds that are fully aware of their context. Through daily classes (5 days a week / 5 hours per day), it provides advanced professional training in Contemporary Dance, but also in traditional techniques from different regions (martial arts, vernacular dances, etc.), as well as theoretical classes. Invited teachers come from Europe, but also the MENA region or beyond, in order to give the students a maximum exposure to the latest trends in regards to Contemporary Dance techniques, methodologies and backgrounds from all over the world. At the same time, the program also offers an insight into the creative worlds of the visiting choreographers and their tools of composition; and paves the way for those willing to later on continue with a career in choreography, or teaching.
After a first generation of students graduated in June 2015, a new generation has started the program in September 2016, and we are now opening the doors to talented students to join the program directly from year 2.
The auditions will take place in 2 phases:
- First round of auditions from August 27th to 30th.
- Short-listed candidates will then be asked to join the first week of school from September 5th to 7th.
At the end of these 2 sessions, accepted applicants will join the regular school, starting immediately and until June 2019.
