Australian tap dancer Ruby Boukabou's initiation workshops are for those who wish to learn the basics of tap dance while developing their body consciousness, timing and presence. While learning the vocabulary of tap dance, it will help you to listen to yourself and others and get fit while leaning to be in the moment. *** Tap shoes aren't necessary if you don’t have them- you can wear flat shoes with hard soles.

Students will learn the basics of tap dance through simple exercises and work on rhythm and style.

RUBY BOUKABOU (aka Ruby Renaissance)

Australian/Parisian/ North African Ruby Boukabou performs internationally on stage and screen.

Ruby has guested in international festivals such as Glastonbury, Edinburgh, Melbourne and Geneva and in venues such as the Olympia, Le Café de la Danse (Paris), The Monument (Algiers), The Basement (Sydney) and The Famous Spiegeltent (Melbourne) and at special events from London to Zurich to Mumbai.

Ruby played piano, clarinet and saxophone and practised martial arts and theatre from an early age before falling in love with tap dance. She then studied a wide range of tap styles with many great teachers including Glenn Wood, The Tap Dogs, Tracey Wilson, Roxane Butterfly, Derek Hearty and Omar Edwards (amongst others). Ruby has performed with Amanda Palmer, Caravan Palace, Christa Hughes, amongst many other artists and has been a member of TheSizzle Set, The Paris Cats and a variety of other musical acts.

Ruby has written and performed as an actor and dancer for theatre, film and video clip and is the co-founder of the Paris Tap Crew. Ruby is also member of world music/jazz group 'Le Shuffle Project
