Presentation Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung for International Cooperation Germany/Arab World

Goethe-Institute Cairo

Guest: Frank W. Albers, project manager of the Robert Bosch Stiftung

The Robert Bosch Stiftung, one of Germany’s major philanthropic foundations, encourages cultural promotion and international cooperation, stimulates advancement and innovation by supporting projects that bring people together and nurture talents.

Robert Bosch Stiftung’s largest initiative in the Arab World to date is the Film Prize for International Cooperation. Each year, three joint film projects by co-production teams of emerging talents from Germany and the Arab World will be funded. The Film Prize, worth up to 60,000 euros for each selected project, is awarded in the categories animation, documentary, and short fiction film. Young filmmakers in the fields of production, directing, camera, and screenwriting are given an opportunity to explore the methods and creative styles of their partner country.

Eligible are joint production teams of young filmmakers from an Arab country (one of the 22 member states of the Arab League) and Germany. Applications must be made by teams, not individuals. The film should be produced in Germany as well as the partner country, stressing in particular the aspect of intercultural exchange.

Deadline for submission is September 30, 2013. Further information and the regulations can be found on www.filmprize.de.

The introduction is followed by a film screening of former Film Prize winners from the years 2005-2007.
