We would all like to see Cairo a little bit greener, to have a small garden on the balcony, to grow some kitchen herbs or even our own vegetables. But – where to start?
The workshop will introduce you to some basic knowledge and useful rules of thumb to start your own garden. 

The following topics will be covered:
Picking the right place - Considering light, shadow, temperature and wind

-Picking the right container – About the right amount of 
space for your plants

- The right soil – Which one to use, where to get it.
- Choosing the right plants for your garden – About the right plants for the right spots and which plants grow well together and which don’t 

- From where to get the plants – about seeds, cuttings and plant propagation 

- Water needs – About camels and heavy drinkers
- Pest control – What to do if something’s eating your plants

Please note that the practical part of the workshop will be on containers and how to apply on your rooftop gardens. however Most of the content of the workshop is applicable for backyard gardens as well..
