Enjoy with Noura Mint Seymali the sounds of traditional Mauritanian music merged with reggae, blues, hip hop and rock.

Noura Mint Seymali started her career at the age of 13 as a backing vocalist with Dimi Mint Abbas. She formed an ensemble that uses traditional instruments at its core: harp, lute, and bowl drum with Western bass and drum-set. Arranging for a contemporary ensemble, Noura has united her traditional Mauritanian music with sounds from outside—reggae, blues, hip hop, zouk. Noura debuted internationally at events like Festival au-Desert (Mali), Festival Pirineos (Spain), and Festival Timitar (Morocco). Noura’s songs address such prescient topics as the role of women in Islamic society, desertification, economic development, and terrorism in the Magreb, she also presents love songs, devotional hymns of praise, and historical folk narratives
