Video and sensitive enviroments, directed by Fabio Cirifino, Paolo Rosa, Stefano Roveda, Leonardo Sangiorgi, English with Italian subtiltles, 2007

Studio Azzurro has a single soul, albeit contained in several bodies. It is formed by people with different origins, sensibilities and roles, but who collaborate together in producing a creative and very communicative environment.

Studio Azzurro’s work is focused on creating “sensitive environments” where technology, narration and space are blended together, and in which the resulting effects are the result of choices and the presence of several people, and where the man-machine relationship does not rule out the existence of relationships between men.

The interactive environments are supported by “natural interfaces”, devices, that is, which react without the use of technological extensions, using modes of communication that are very common and practically unfiltered by symbolic valences, involving touching, treading and sound emission. This encourages people to come together and communicate, generating a more spontaneous relationship with the various sensorial factors.

Studio Azzurro has also applied its ideas about art to the wider world of communications, in particular to the planning of events and to creating museum displays.

The research is not limited to video, but has inevitably included cinema, theatre, musical theatre and dance, each time finding narrative and visual cues that might generate a moment of straightforward and visionary contact between the different media.

Studio Azzurro has also made many documentaries about artists, and held teaching and training workshops and seminars, often presenting essays and theoretical work.
