The academic approach summer school, on the loval level, is to widen the cooperation between Ain Shams University (ASU) and the German partner - University of Stuttgart to integrate the national Higher Technological Institute (HTI) and worl intensively on the current important urban planning and sustainable topics.

 

The research aim of the summer school is merging the principles and the techniques of traditional "local" architecture and urban systems in Egypt, with the future technologies. The gathering of German-Egyptian experts and students from different backgrounds, under this forum, will enrich the planning, urban design and the architectural approaches to attain sustainable and eco cities coping with the modern facilities.

 

Participants will be divided into mixed (German and Egyptian) groups, El-Fayoum is selected as a case study area by being a natural area with high potentials for sustainable development. The ocus of the summer school is empirical work in El-Fayoum will go through various scopes of work including the planning and regional approaches. The urban quarter development approaches till the architectural and builgind approaches. These diverse scopes together will result at integrated eco-cities. Social, economic and environmental aspects and the new low-and high-technologies towards achieving sustainable eco-cities will be the main themes of discussions during the summer school.
