Photo of a child stranded on a Turkish beach, hundreds of people crammed on the edge of Serbs roads in the hope of crossing borders to join Germany, "jungle" of Calais .... These exodus images displayed every day on our screens generate feelings of shock, helplessness, fear. They give rise, too poignant to acts of solidarity.

The "migration crisis" today, the biggest since the Second World War, affects several continents. It impacts public policies, influences foreign policy choice involves the Schengen area and the fundamental principles of the European Union. Put under the media spotlight by the Syrian crisis, these phenomena of migration constraints, multiples, are not new. However, due to the diversification of these flows and their growing scale, the nature of responses to increasingly complex. The combination of immediate humanitarian assistance to refugees and IDPs and development aid over the medium and long term is essential. Arrested in their practices, development actors review their methods of intervention.

What is the real extent of this crisis? How does it fit in the overall migration? What issues such population movements they pose to the countries of origin, transit and destination? What responses development actors can they bring?
