Since the upheavals in the Arab world, the interest in the local cultural scene on the part of Western cultural institutions seems to have increased. To what extent have cultural organizations changed since then?  Participants will discuss the institutional parameters involved in promoting and financing culture in Egypt. What responsibility do international cultural organizations bear? What goals do respective countries pursue with their promotional programs?  How is the interplay among the state, society and artistic and cultural output  taking shape in a globalized world? In what direction is the future of cultural relations evolving?
