This lecture will be a brief peek into the world of international schools in Egypt with a focus on the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. International schools are growing at an unprecedented rate in Egypt and still there are waiting lists for students’ admittance into these schools. How are the curricula on offer shaping our nation’s children? What are the requirements to be able to teach in these schools? What are the outcomes of the programs offered? Dr. Susie Belal will shed some light on these issues, in addition to sharing the findings of her research on the outcomes of the IB program at an international school in Egypt.

Dr. Susie Belal has worked in the field of education for the last 15 years. From being a teaching assistant as a graduate student to teaching IB Chemistry in a few international schools in Cairo and writing curricula for the Graduate School of Education’s Diploma Program for Educators atAUC The American University in Cairo, her experience spans both the K-12 and the university level. She has also taught a few courses for The College of New Jersey off-site popular Masters of teaching and certification program. Dr. Susie Belal obtained her doctorate in education in organizational leadership, policy and development from the University of Minnesota earlier this year.
