NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHT – ‘NOSTALGIA DE LA LUZ’ (CHILE/FRANCE, 2010)
Set in Chile’s arid Atacama Desert, this documentary draws attention to the detrimental, lasting effect of Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship and juxtaposes the work of a group of astronomers and archeologists – who use this area to stargaze and carry out research – with the ongoing struggle Chilean women face in search of the remnants of their executed relatives that remain under the rubble of the desert.

PATRICIO GUZMÁN
Patricio Guzmán is a Chilean documentary film director and a writer currently residing in France. He is internationally known for films including ‘The Battle of Chile’ and ‘Salvador Allende’, and is the founder and director of the International Documentary Festival of Santiago (FIDOCS). His latest film, ‘The Pearl Button’ was selected to screen in the main competition section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival and was the winner of the Silver Berlin Bear for Best Script.
