In Search of 'Oil and Sand' - Philippe Dib and Wael Omar - 2012 

This new documentary film talks about the coincidental discovery of old footage about “the making of” of 'Oil and Sand', a film intended to be made by and about members of Egypt's royal family in the weeks and months before the coup d'état. The story of the film itself actually predicted a military coup and starred several members of the royal family. Its copies were destroyed, but not the “making of”. 

In this documentary, Mahmud Thabet discusses how he went about reconstructing this film and saving its story from oblivion. A very interesting documentary about a forgotten part of Egypt's history and royal family that comes back to life. 

The directors also won an award for “Best Directors” at the Abu Dhabi film festival.
