Ezbet Community Center

This Community Center project is a dream that started under
cooperation with AYB and German students in 2011.

The original spirit of AYB is to include and involve the Egyptian undergraduate, postgraduate and research interest into the field of action and to support the students’ work with German and Egyptian academic experience and knowledge.

The three acting parties of the cooperation are: 
‐ Stuttgart University ‐ Project coordinator: Dr.Manal El‐Shahat.
‐ Ain Shams University - project coordinator: Dr.Samah ElKhateeb.
‐ Alshanek Ya Balady - Ain Shams University (AYB‐ASU).

The idea of the competition is to design a community center in one of the poorest informal areas in Egypt; Ezbet Abu Qarn.

The competition was announced in 1/7/2013, more than 70 teams registered in the competition from both Egypt & Germany.

The submitted projects were 35 projects and the jury select 3 winning projects from them.

About speaker: 
Dr.Samah El‐Khateeb is an Assistant Professor at Faculty of Engineering, Urban Design Department, Ain Shams University.
She graduated in 2002, and she had her master degree & PhD in the field of Environmental Planning.
She involved in designing many projects in Egypt and Arab Gulf as she worked as an executive manager for Engineering Consulting Company for 4 years.
Dr El Khateeb is the Egyptian coordinator of Ezbet community center project; she is representing Ain Shams University
