German contemporary feature films, Orient-inspired silent movies accompanied by live music, a youth film program and a selection of Egyptian shorts screened during the Berlinale in 2016 – all these genres are included in the Goethe Film Week‘s programme 2016 that presents viewers a broad range of choice of German as well as selected Egyptian film productions. Between May 26th and June 2nd, the screenings will take place at the Goethe-Institut Cairo.
Moreover, the tragicomedy "Bornholmer Strasse" will be screened in the presence of price-winning director Christian Schwochow, who is best known for his films "Novemberkind", "Die Unsichtbare" and "Westen". The German pianist Uwe Oberg, who plays a mix between Jazz and new improvised music, will accompany the silent films of Ernst Lubitsch with his interesting live-performance. Furthermore Oliver Kleidel, scriptwriter of „Horizon Beautiful“ will be present during the Goethe Film Week.
