ENVI-met 4.0 is the latest version of the famous CFD simulation package used for appraisal of urban spaces master plans, physical planning morphology and help to draw a picture about the role of built environment elements, materials and vegetation on pedestrian perception and thermal comfort. ENVI-met is a three-dimensional microclimate model that can simulate the surface-plant-air interactions, solar path, buildings and vegetation within urban environment and is based on the fundamental laws of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. ENVI-met 4.0 has new 3D modeling and presentation options, new trees modeling module as well as the new pedestrian comfort model PET. The model includes the simulation of flow around and between buildings and the exchange processes of heat and vapor at the ground surface and at walls. The workshop will introduce how to model, run and analyze the output of simulating case studies both in present day and future climates based on climate change scenarios in terms of predicted weather data files. Attendee will be also able to understand the new trends of the environmental urban design in the 21st century and under climate change scenarios.
