When El Waziry met Zakaria Ibrahim, they dreamt of replicating the experience that flourished in Port Said, by gathering the retired suhbagiyya and presenting a weekly folk music performance in Ismailia. After El Waziry passed away in 2008, the name of the band was changed to El Waziry Band to memorize their leader. In additional to the performance that still takes place every Tuesday in their home city, El Waziry Band has performed to audiences in the cities of Port Said, Suez, Cairo, Alexandria and El Minya.
